We are pleased to announce that GeoENV 2010, the 8th International Conference on Geostatistics for Environmental Applications will be held in Ghent, th th Belgium, on the 13 -15 September 2010.

Program: Two 2-days workshops will be organized, prior to the conference:

  • "Introduction to geostatistics” by Prof. Dr. Alexandre Boucher , Stanford University, USA
  • "Model-based geostatistics with environmental and epidemiological applications" by Prof. Dr. Peter Diggle , Lancaster University, UK

Workshop fee €350 for non-students €200 for students

Keynote speakers:

  1. Prof. Dr. Jef Caers Department of Energy Resources Engineering, Stanford University, USA Theme: Spatial modeling with ensembles in metric space
  2. Prof. Dr. Andras Bardossy Institute of Hydraulic Engineering, University of Stuttgart, Germany Theme: Geostatistical interpolation using copulas
  3. Prof. Dr. George Christakos San Diego State University, USA Theme: Spatiotemporal Geostatistics and the Environment: "Crossing Parmenides' Gates and Morrison's Doors"

Abstract submission:

An extended abstract of 2-3 pages (incl. tables, figures, references, ...) should be submitted by 15th March 2010 (extended deadline) via e-mail to the symposium secretary: geoenv10@ugent.be.

Publication:

The publication procedure will be as follows: At registration an extended abstract must be submitted. If accepted, it will be distributed at the conference in a book of abstracts with ISBN. Contributors will be invited to submit at the conference a full paper for publication in a special issue of the International Journal “Stochastic Environmental Research and Risk Assessment” (WoS indexed). These papers will go through the regular peer review process of this journal.

Deadlines:

  • 15 March 2010 - Abstract submission. An extended abstract of 2-3 pages (incl. figures, tables, refs…) should be sent via e-mail to geoenv10@ugent.be.
  • 1 May 2010 -Notification of abstract acceptance
  • 15 June 2010 -End of early registration
  • 23 August 2010 - Deadline for receipt of registration forms
  • At conference -Full paper submission deadline
  • 2-3 months after conference -Referee comments sent to authors

Registration fee:

The fees include:

  • Attendance to the conference
  • Conference bag with book of extended abstract
  • Special issue of SERRA with the full papers, hard copy sent by mail after publication
  • Coffee breaks and lunches
